A Travel Agency is a type of retail business as it sells goods and services or you can say product from Tourism industry to the consumers;(here consumers are the Tourists) on behalf of service jproviders such as airlines, cruises, hotels, resorts or package holidays as combination or many servies in one product. These Travel Agencies have seperated department to make arrangement for the ordinary tourists. Some travel agencies have specialize in commercial travelling, some of them business travelling and having sepated department to deal with same kind of tourists.

Many travel agencies serve as sells Travel Agents on behalf of foreign travel agencies. They sells their product as a travel agent in different travel companies as their head quater are based on central locating country.

Origins of Travel Agency

In the past there was a compay Cox & Kings is to be assumed the most oldest travel agency in the field of tourism. At starting these travel agencies provided services only to rich or wealthy clients. But in 19th century a modren travel agency came into exist named Thomas Cook. This Tourism company also introduse the package tour. Earlier in 1920 the modren commercial aviation dovelopment came into frame. In the starting time travel agencies only served the class cusotmers but after the boom war they started targeting working people and start selling beach holiday package.

Travel Agents

Travel agencies perform their work with the help of worker or people who sells travel agencies's product to the consumers on behalf of the travel agency and earn 2% to 12% commission as goods and services arrangements for the tourists. In some country commission is not paid to the agency than agent company or agent add an additional amount as in to net price.
